Frequently Asked Questions
A perimenopause dietitian provides nutrition guidance to help women navigate hormonal changes, weight fluctuations, digestive concerns, low energy, and overall wellness during the perimenopausal years.
While nutrition can’t stop the hormonal changes of menopause, it can help you manage weight, preserve muscle, improve satiety, and support your overall health. A personalized approach can make it easier to build sustainable habits that support long-term success.
A balanced eating pattern that includes protein-rich foods, vegetables, fruit, whole grains, healthy fats, and calcium-rich foods can support overall health during menopause. The best approach is one that is nutritious, enjoyable, and sustainable for your lifestyle.
There isn’t one “best” diet for perimenopause. The most effective approach is one that is balanced, evidence-based, and tailored to your individual health needs, preferences, and goals. At Spark Nutrition & Health, we focus on realistic, sustainable habits rather than restrictive diets.
Protein needs vary based on age, activity level, muscle mass, and health goals. Many women benefit from increasing their protein intake during midlife to help preserve muscle and support healthy aging. A Registered Dietitian can help determine what’s right for you.
Symptoms vary from woman to woman but may include hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disturbances, mood changes, brain fog, vaginal dryness, weight changes, and reduced muscle mass. Nutrition can play an important role in supporting your overall health during this transition.
Every person’s journey is different. Some notice improvements in energy, eating habits, or digestion within a few weeks, while goals such as weight management or body composition changes may take longer. Our focus is on creating sustainable habits that lead to lasting improvements in health.
Many extended health benefit plans cover services provided by Registered Dietitians. We provide detailed receipts that can be submitted for reimbursement under most insurance plans. Coverage varies by provider, so we recommend checking with your insurance company for details.
